We regret to advise that Barry Couzens has passed away. As many of you know, Barry, Pat and Anne Couzens were members of Optimists SC in Halliwick ASTRA One, and his wife, Pat, passed away earlier this year so it is a very difficult time for their daughter, Anne. Some of you may know that Pat and Barry met through Halliwick swimming and, as Anne says, without that, she would not have been! As many of you will also know, Barry was one of the swimmers that took part in the channel swim in August 1970 (he was the second swimmer – more info on that here) and, in fact, the swim took place on 28th August 1970, so the 47th anniversary of that great event is tomorrow. Barry was a great character and well-respected and loved in Halliwick. We will all miss him and remember fondly his huge contribution to Halliwick swimming.
