Alan Wright, Graham Fair, and Peter Crudge Awarded with Certificates of Distinguished Service

Many congratulations to Alan, Graham, and Peter on well-deserved awards.

Sailfin SC had been established for ten years when Alan started volunteering in 1986. His contribution to the club since then have been huge, and he has ensured that the club continues to give disabled people in Sale (Greater Manchester) opportunities to be active, compete in galas, develop friendships, and enjoy the social aspect of belonging to a swimming club. He has served as a club official in various capacities, and has been involved with galas at regional and national level throughout his time at the club. Alan is a caring and compassionate person, and he goes out of his way to ensure that swimmers enjoy their swimming sessions and are given opportunities to compete at galas. As a long servant and Sailfin SC’s President, Alan has been a tower of strength to his club and to the North West region as a whole.

Graham started volunteering at Aquadis SC (Ellesmere Port) in 1985, shortly after relocating from Scotland. As his association with the club grew he became involved in all aspects of the club, from helping in the pool, administration, gala rep, treasurer and chief instructor. These roles have continued to the present day. Graham is always at the forefront of the North West (Halliwick Astra 8) galas, from preparing the swimmers’ timings to arranging their transport. He always shows empathy towards the swimmers and prioritises their safety at all times. Graham regularly takes on the role of announcer at the galas, and he earns the respect of other volunteers with his knowledge of how Halliwick galas operate. His long association and commitment to Aquadis SC has ensured that hundreds of disabled people have been given the chance to express themselves, socialise with each other, have fun, and lead a healthier lifestyle.

Peter started volunteering at Aquadis SC as a helper in the pool. His involvement with the club goes back to 1985. Since then, he has been one of the main volunteers and has contributed significantly to the success of Aquadis SC. As well as playing a big part ‘behind the scenes’, in roles such as treasurer, he regularly assists at the galas, and is heavily involved in preparing swimmers for them. With his 40 years of volunteering at Aquadis, he has given hundreds of swimmers opportunities to enhance their lives by improving their health and fitness through swimming. Graham refers to Peter as a ‘valuable asset at the club who always gets the best out of the swimmers.’

Thank you, Alan, Graham, and Peter, for all you have done and continue to do!
